Follow these easy steps to move your checking account to the credit union and start enjoying FREE checking.

  1. Open your new account at the credit union.
    What do I need?
        a) Driver's license, SSN , proof of address only if the address on your license is not your current address.
         b) $25.00 minimum deposit to open your savings account. Your savings account establishes your membership at the credit union.
         c) $5.00 one time membership fee.

         Ask us about what other forms of ID are accepted to open your account.

  2. Order new checks and your new NO FEE ATM/Debit Card
        a) When you open your new checking account you will receive 8 temporary checks to get started.
         b) You can request permanent checks the same day. 
         c) You will receive your new debit card in about 10 business days. For security, the actual card and PIN are mailed separetely. Activation instructions are on the card.
  3. Ask your employer to reroute your Direct Deposit
    You will need:
         a) The credit union's name: United Services Credit Union
         b) The routing number:
    253184359
         
    c) Your new account number

    All of this information is on your temporary checks.
    You may use one of them, write the word "VOID" on it, and take it to your HR department.

    If you are a social security recipient, call the Social Security Administration
    at 1-800-772-1213
    to switch your social security direct deposit to the credit union.
  4. Contact companies that direct-debit your account
    For example if your cell phone monthly payment is debited automatically from your account, notify your cell phone provider about the change.

    Use this form to contact your Merchants/Payees

    Alternatively, you may choose to contact your merchant/payee by phone. The telephone number should be available on the monthly bill they send you and/or on their website.
  5. Set up Online Bill Pay for your new checking account
    This is another FREE service that the credit union brings to you. Bill Pay is an easy and convenient way to pay your monthly bills. You will save time and also money by not having to buy checks or stamps.

  6. Close your old account
    Once you have started receiving direct deposits into your new account and are sure that there are no outstanding checks or automatic debits that need to clear, close your old account.
    Warning: do not withdraw the last dollar and assume the account will fade away on its own. Your old financial institution may start charging you fees for having an empty or inactive checking account. Instead, follow the bank's procedure for closing out the account.
